The number of Russian tourists visiting Rakvere Castle increased significantly
also this year. During the first ten days of the year 2012, the castle was
visited by 2600 Russian tourists. The castle held a New Year fair to welcome the
guests. Bonfires were burning in the courtyard and cheerful music was playing.
The visitors had an opportunity to explore the history of the castle, shoot at a target
with a bow and play other hilarious knight games. According to KaiduTiirik,
Director of Rakvere Castle, the high visitors’number is a result of long-time good
service and ever-improving contacts with tourism promoters across the border.
